There’s still time to come and see the Stirling Festival Theatre Academy’s great summer show – Seussical The Musical. It’s a glorious show, in the best tradition of the Academy’s summer shows. It’s just packed with music, laughter and, of course, the wonderful words of the great Dr. Seuss.

There are 38 kids on stage and they’re having as much fun as the audience – and that’s a LOT of fun! Don’t forget these kids are from all over the area, they all go to local schools and none of them pay a cent for the training they get. The SFT provides all of that at no charge to them – professional direction, choreography, singing training, everything that goes into making a show. It’s part of our service to the community we are a part of.

But it costs us a lot of money to put on the show. Although we don’t charge the kids a penny, we have to pay the Director, the Stage Manager, the Choreographer, the musicians and everyone else who works on it. Plus there are many costumes to be made (think how many for a cast of 38!), rights to be paid in order to put the show on and we have to build the set (which is great, by the way). All that adds up. In fact it adds up to tens of thousands of dollars for Seussical!

So $28 for an adult ticket (less for kids, members and seniors) is actually quite a bargain. Even better value is a Family pack for $75. (Prices do not include taxes and applicable fees). Come and see the show at the SFT, I think you’ll agree it’s an amazing bargain!

The show runs until August 19, and although tickets are selling well, there are still some good tickets available. If you talk to anyone who has already seen it, you’ll know how good it is, so don’t delay until it’s too late. This is one of those shows people will talk about. You can book online at, by calling 613-395-2100 or by calling in at the Box Office. Don’t leave it too late though!

And while I’m on the subject of the Academy, it’s not long till we start auditions for our Halloween show – Hilarious Haunted Mansion. Auditions will be on Saturday 9 September at 9.30 am. If you can’t make it then there will be opportunities on 6 and 8 September. Just call the theatre on 613-395-2100 or email to book a time. Details can be found on our website in the Academy section.
