UPDATES TO SFT PATRONS

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): Outbreak update
(source: Healthy Canadians –  formerly the Public Health Agency of Canada)

There is an increased risk of more severe outcomes for Canadians: aged 65 and over, with compromised immune systems and with underlying medical conditions.

There are also increased health risks for Canadian travellers abroad. Because of these risks, the Government of Canada advises you to avoid non-essential travel outside of Canada until further notice. This includes cruise ships.

It is important for all travellers to:

  • self-isolate for 14 days after returning from travel outside of Canada
    • some provinces and territories may have specific recommendations for certain groups such as health care workers
  • monitor your health for symptoms such as for fever, cough or difficulty breathing
  • wash your hands often for 20 seconds and cough or sneeze into a tissue or the bend of your arm, not your hand

The federal government continues to reassess the public health risk, based on the best available evidence as the situation evolves.

It will be a short meeting in that the presentation of the financial statements will be in May. For more information, please contact Marilyn Lawrie, Interim Administrator, 613-395-2100, ext 205.

Message to SFT Patrons – How the SFT is responding to COVID-19

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation evolves, the team at the Stirling Festival Theatre continues to closely monitor developments locally and globally. We are following official guidance from the Public Health Agency of Canada in order to support the health and well-being of our community, patrons, volunteers, board, Young Company Members and staff.

Currently, the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the public health risk associated with COVID-19 as low for the general population in Canada. With that in mind, and with the extra precautionary measures we are taking.

At this time, our Box Office, Main Stage, Eugene Burrell Hall and administrative office remain open. Should the need to postpone or cancel shows or events arise, we will issue a notice on our website, on Facebook and inform those who have purchased tickets. Tickets will be refunded on a gift certificate that will be valid for any future performance.
For anyone who does not feel comfortable attending performances for which you have purchased tickets that are not cancelled, we will also refund your ticket purchase onto a gift certificate (no expiry).

• We are proceeding with this weekend’s performances of ‘The Pirate of Oak Lake’ tonight, Saturday, March 14 and Sunday March 15
• We are proceeding with our Annual General Meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 19 at 5:30pm in the Burrell Hall

In addition to our regular cleaning procedures, we are taking these added precautionary measures:
• Hand sanitizers have been placed at our front Box Office counter, in the lobby and on the counter in the Eugene Burrell Hall
• We are also taking extra care to sanitize all public spaces including doorknobs, handrails and other commonly used surfaces
• We are asking staff, performers and volunteers to stay home if are presenting symptoms
• We have sign-up charts in the Box Office and Lobby to keep a record of everyone coming in to the Stirling Theatre. This is purely voluntary, of course, but leaving us your name and contact information, so that if the need arises, we can contact you

Here’s what you can do to keep yourself safe:
• We’ve all heard it everywhere: *Wash Your Hands* regularly (ideally, for the length of time it takes you to sing Happy Birthday!)
• Do not touch your face at any time
• Please stay home if you are presenting symptoms – sneezing, coughing or fever
• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, or an elbow or shoulder of no tissue is available
• Consider using “Jazz Hands” (or other non-contact means) instead of handshakes (this was started recently by a crew member on Broadway!)

For more detailed information about and general precautions regarding COVID-19, please visit the Public Health Agency of Canada’s website.

Staff will continue to assess the situation daily and we will keep our stakeholders informed. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you have any questions, please contact our Box Office at 613-395-2100 / 1-877-312-1162 or boxoffice@stirlingfestivaltheatre and they will direct your inquiry.
