I am very excited to be appointed the new Artistic Director of the Stirling Festival Theatre. SFT (and the town of Stirling) has been a second home to me for nearly twenty years.
First, I would like to thank Caroline Smith for being a mentor to me and giving me many of the tools necessary for this job. She gave me my first break as an actor (in 1999), she gave me my first directing job (2003) and our writing projects together laid the groundwork for my writing career.
I would also like to thank David Vanderlip for his years of service to SFT and for the incredible work he did building the Stirling Festival Academy.
Over the years, I have been lucky enough to perform on stages across Ontario (Port Hope Festival, Gaiety Theatre in Collingwood, Georgian Theatre in Barrie, to name a few). For twenty years, I performed regularly with the Mysteriously Yours Dinner Theatre. I have appeared in over two dozen commercials and on TV shows like Murdoch Mysteries, Degrassi: Next Generation, Mayday and King.
Here in Stirling, I was in five pantos (including the first ever Naughty Panto in 2000). I am often stopped on the streets of Stirling and reminded of my character Woody (Chop, chop, Woody!). I also appeared in numerous summer shows including Kitchen Witches, Anne of Green Gables and Mini Putt.
Since 2010, I have been the Writer and Director of all of the popular Pantos. I have written and performed in the dinner theatres in the upper Eugene Burrell Hall (since 2003).
I am really looking forward to this position. There is a lot to come and see during the rest of 2017. The Academy show – Hilarious Haunted Mansion, the October Dinner Theatre, Stand Up Comedian, another terrific Anne Marie Sheffler show, a play reading and, don’t forget, this year’s musical comedy Panto, Little Red (tickets are selling fast).
There will be a huge announcement for 2018’s awesome season. Stay tuned.
My mantra for SFT, moving forward, is “making new friends and reconnecting with old.” Come check us out. It’s going to be a heck of a ride.
To book tickets, visit stirlingfestivaltheatre.com, call the Box Office on 613-395-2100 or come to the Box Office at the Theatre.
