WASN’T THAT A PARTY? February 2, 2018

by Ken MacDougall Celtic Kitchen Party was the official kick off of the Stirling Festival Theatre’s 2018 Season. And what a great kick off it was. With a sold out house, Celtic Kitchen Party lived up to its name! There was singing, clapping and dancing in the aisles including yours truly and much of the SFT staff. We look forward to having the Celtic Kitchen Party back again very soon. My mantra for 2018 was making new friends and re-connecting with old. I can certainly say that I made some new friends on the dance floor that night! And the fun doesn’t stop there… On

PANTO AND BEYOND, December 2017

by Ken MacDougall Rehearsals for Little Red at the Stirling Festival Theatre are well under way. Tickets are selling fast and some shows are coming close to selling out. You would be best to pick up yours soon. Milf Life Crisis and Stand Up, Stirling 2 were both huge successes and came very close to being sold out. Watch out for more comedy in 2018. Speaking of 2018, the brochure for next season will be in the mail soon. Keep an eye out for yours. There is a lot of excitement coming to SFT in 2018. Grammy nominated country artist (and local favourites), The Wilkinsons are coming to

MUSICAL THEATRE PANTO – SO MUCH FUN! December 2017

by Ken MacDougall Well, here we are in the middle of Pantoland. It has been fun watching all versions of the show and seeing the great reactions. The rush of the school shows when 400 kids are screaming. The wonderful mix of the Family shows when the adults chuckle at the jokes just for them and the kids laugh and boo the bad guy. The raucous good times of the Naughty shows… What they all have in common is tradition. Many schools have been coming for years. What I love about school audiences and the kids in the Family show

LITTLE RED COMES TO SFT THIS MONTH, November 2017

by Ken McDougall Well, here we are in November. October is behind us and the Halloween costumes are put away. We here at the Stirling Festival Theatre are getting new costumes together. Panto costumes. That’s right, Stirling’s musical comedy panto is just around the corner. Little Red is coming to Stirling and she is tougher than ever. Our little Red story picks up where the original fairy tale leaves off. This time, an older, wiser Little Red heads off into the forest to visit her Aunt Violet. Our hero has been taking Mixed Martial Arts lessons and has watched Wonder Woman ten

What’s coming to the Stirling Festival Theatre? FUN, THAT’S WHAT! October 2017

by Ken MacDougall Well, Fall is here and we at the Stirling Festival Theatre are busy getting ready for the rest of 2017. You still have a few more chances to see the SFT Young Company’s Hilarious Haunted Mansion. As the writer/director, it has been a great experience working with such talented kids (37 of them!) from all over the area. Next up, we have Anne Marie Sheffler returning to our Upper Burrell Hall with MILF Life Crisis. Sheffler scored a big hit with audiences earlier this year with Suddenly Mommy and she is back with a hilarious new show about returning to dating

KEN MACDOUGALL joins the Stirling Festival Theatre, September 2017

by Ken MacDougall I am very excited to be appointed the new Artistic Director of the Stirling Festival Theatre. SFT (and the town of Stirling) has been a second home to me for nearly twenty years. First, I would like to thank Caroline Smith for being a mentor to me and giving me many of the tools necessary for this job. She gave me my first break as an actor (in 1999), she gave me my first directing job (2003) and our writing projects together laid the groundwork for my writing career. I would also like to thank David Vanderlip

SFT Academy Proudly Presents – SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL, August 2017

Yes, folks, it’s time for the Stirling Academy’s Summer Musical. The Academy (formerly known as The Young Company) has been responsible for some of the best shows on the Stirling Theatre Stage in recent years. Remember, none of these kids are professionals – many of them have never set foot on the stage before! But for the next few weeks, until the show opens on August 3, they will get the highest class of professional training. How to act, how to sing, how to dance, how to move on stage and much, much more. And how much do they pay
