Some of the brightest stars in stand up comedy are coming to the Stirling Festival Theatre Upper Hall! The show will be hosted by Foxboro’s own Dan Curtis Thompson and will be headlined by Neil Grinstead whose appearances at Just For Laughs will be shown on the comedy network.

Hosted by Dan Curtis Thompson: Dan Curtis is a Toronto stand up comedian, writer and actor. Dan has made his way across Canada performing on stages acting in plays and musicals, and telling jokes that his grandparents don’t understand. He’s been seen performing in comedy festivals such as JFL42 and KapowFest, and has been seen on YTV. Dan produces multiple shows in Toronto such as “New Faces of Comedy”, a show for new comedians to try the craft out as well as “Character Comedy”, a show where comedians perform stand up from the perspective of their chosen character. Dan is a quarter-finalist in the Toronto Comedy Brawl, a finalist in Absolute Comedy’s “Prove You’re A Comic” Competition and is a published writer with CBC Comedy.
Dan played Sparky in Stirling’s show “Forever Plaid”, Jack in last year’s pantomime “Jack and the Beanstalk” and will be playing Little Boy Blue in this year’s “Little Red Riding Hood”. Dan graduated from St. Lawrence College’s Music Theatre Performance Program and feels okay about it.

Headliner: Nigel Grinstead:  Nigel’s laid back charm and absurd takes on life have earned him the reputation of being one of the goofiest and most imaginative comics in the Canadian scene. Jumpstarting his career with consecutive victories in high-profile competition generated a lot of buzz, receiving the Tim Sim’s Encouragement Fund for his win at Cream of Comedy 2013, placing first in the 2014 Toronto Comedy Brawl, as well as recently taking home first place at the Homegrown competition at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival: an annual contest recognizing the strongest upcoming Canadian talent. All of this momentum granted him the opportunity to perform in festivals all across the country including the Cottage Country Comedy Festival, Sudbury’s LOL Festival, and NXNE. Above all, Nigel has had the distinct honour of taping two sets at Just For Laughs to air on The Comedy Network, as well as one set for CBC Television at the Halifax Comedy Festival. He was also a finalist in Sirius XM’s Top Comic competition and has performed at renowned venues such as Massey Hall and the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Nigel has opened for many international headliners and you can hear his comedy on the radio, see it on TV, or catch him live coast to coast!
